iPhone Live Streaming with Dynamic Bitrate Adaption

The iPhone Live Streaming Module can either complement SDP2 (Stream & Download Platform - 2nd evolution), or alternatively operate alongside other non-iPhone supporting 3rd party streaming platforms. SDP2 is a highly scalable enterprise platform leveraging off the proven power, reliability and robustness of our Stream & Download Platform architecture.

It is designed to be deployed into telecommunications and media companies requiring high throughput, as well as technical integration into authentication and authorization platforms and accounting (charging/billing) systems.

The most basic implementation involves two services:

  • Our live video encoders handle the first stage and encode from analog, MPEG2 or RTSP into iPhone compatible video. The encoders are usually setup to encode multiple steams and bitrates of the same source.
  • The second stage is delivery to mobile handsets. This is handled by our Stream and Download Platform Servers. These servers are often paired behind a content switch to enable fault tolerance. They are configured via the administration web interface.
